QuickConnectiPhone 1.5 Beta 3 is available

Posted in iPhone development tagged , , , , , , at 4:11 am by tetontech

The QC1.5 Beta 3 includes playing, looping, and stopping audio files that you ship with your application using JavaScript calls. For gapless looping playback use uncompressed file types such as wav files. Compressed files can be played without a gap between the loops if you modify the files. This posting describes how to modify mp3 files to playback without a ‘plop’ or gap.

Additional examples have been added.

  1. PlayAudioFileExample – an example of how to play and loop installed audio files.
  2. CustomListsExample – an example of how to create navigation lists that are more flexible than the Edge-To-Edge and Rounded Rectangle Lists but still change views in the stack

    Hi Lee,

    Quick question about updating an existing project. What is the best way to do this? I am running I think 1.5 beta1 but it may be 1.1.3. I would like to update to latest but am not sure what the best way to do this. I’m assuming I need to create a new project and then copy by edited files in but not sure.

    Thanks,

    Gil

      Gil,

      I update my projects just like you have described. I’d love to have a better way to do this since it is becoming very time consuming to update all of the example applications. If you or anyone has an idea I would love to hear it.

      By the way, make sure you clean your new 1.5 Beta 3 projects before you run. I didn’t clean the template before shipping the beta. If you don’t you will get a strange crash of the app you are writing. I’ll fix this for Beta 4.

      It just goes to show that I should not ship when I am really tired.

    Thanks Lee. Did you get the fix for the database call with parameters in the beta3 release?

    I am getting an (I think ) different error.

    Not sure where this is coming from. If you haven’t done anything with it yet, don’t worry about it.

    FYI, this particular call was a two words for the query

      I thought I had fixed it. Could you send me the SQL? Maybe I missed something. I tested queries where the parameters were numbers and strings. If you want to keep it more private send it to yenrab@cableone.net

  3. Gil said,

    Here’s the sql statement very simple.

    var sql = ‘SELECT id, name, data, oldId FROM data where name = ? ‘;
    sampleDatabase.getNativeData(sql, parameters);

    I have a string without quotes in parameters. Do I need to put single quotes around it?

    TIA,
    Gil

    • tetontech said,

      That looks almost identical to the test SQL I was using. Don’t put single quotes in your variable.

      Try cleaning your project for all targets, build, and run again.

    I emailed you the info about how I put everything about it.

    Hi Lee,

    I haven’t heard back from you but I had a few ideas that I wanted to run by you. I am wondering if the reason it’s not working is that somehow the install of the quickconnect 1.5beta3 didn’t erase all of the files such that I have some 1.5beta2 files in there. Is there a way to easily check the differences? (I don’t know which file needed to be changed to fix this issue. )

    The other thing is that I am receiving the Json error with the date check. Not sure why that is happening now.

    Thanks,

    Gil

    Hi Lee,

    I downloaded beta4 and realized that the date was working, I had modified something that made them not work. But the string is still throwing an error: Below is the stacktrace/dump:

      Any chance of sending me the app so I can debug the problem? I thought I had fixed the string issue. Your query is nearly identical to the ones I used to do testing. There isn’t enough information from this stack trace to help me solve the issue.

      This is the last issue for the 1.5 betas.

      If you can, zip it up and send it to barneyl@byui.edu.
